Dawson returns from a summer spent with his mom in Philadelphia. Joey seeks to reconnect with Dawson, who's occupied by a mystery girl, and Pacey helps him out. Jen protests the cheerleading squad by faux trying-out and Mitch recruits Jack for the football team.
